Loose Animals

Over the past few months we have seen an increase in passerby's stopping to pick up or attempt to hold a stray or loose dog.  In one case a passerby lassoed an injured coyote!

Loose dogs are often out for a stroll and will return home on their own. Sometimes folks get worried they may be hit by a car.  People stop and try to grab the dog, or put them into their car.

We would like to caution anyone about trying to do this.  It is dangerous!!  Sometimes fluffy is cooperative and other times the animal can become aggressive when restrained or when you try to pick them up.  For example, some animals may have hip or leg issues and when touched they react by biting.

Recently we had a resident hold on to a dog until they could find the owner.  Eventually the dog bit them.  Another restrained dog became increasingly aggressive while the good Samaritan waited for us to arrive.

We suggest that you do not try to restrain, hold, or place stray or loose dogs/animals, or try to get them into your car.  Call Animal Services or our dispatch.  Be a good observer and relay the dog's location.

Sometimes we will not try to restrain a dog either.  We do not have the proper equipment to grab them or restrain them (or a place to hold them).  We will call Animal Services.

Stolen Property

The North Coastal Sheriff's Station is working to return surfboards, golf clubs and other items stolen from across San Diego County. 

Many items have already been returned to their owners. Photos of those items that cannot be traced back to their owners have been posted on www.sdsheriff.net/return. 

If any of the items you see on the website belong to you, note the photo number and complete the contact form on the right side of the screen. A deputy will then reach out to you. 

To claim the item or items, bring a stolen property or theft report from any law enforcement agency. In the absence of a stolen property report, show a photo, proof of insurance, receipt or information such as a serial number to prove the items belong to you. 

The search for suspects is ongoing. If you have any information on the stolen property, call the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 will be given for information that leads to a felony arrest.

4th of July Parade!  Parade starts at 1pm

 Form up at the RSF School parking lot.  Marshals will direct you where to park and set up the order of the parade.

  We ask if you are riding a horse to wear a helmet for your safety.

Lock Your Car

In the North Coastal area, including RSF, we are still seeing car prowls and break ins.  Most of the thefts from cars don't involve the break in part.  Help stay off the radar of burglars by following these simple tips:

· *Lock your doors and windows.
· *Never leave your car running and unattended.
· *Keep it tidy. Don't leave any bait for thieves. Stow away your electronics, accessories, shopping bags and other belongings out of sight.
· *Stash before—not after—you park. Thieves linger in busy parking lots looking for valuables being moved out of sight.
· *Park in a busy, well‐lit area.

Lock Your Car!

There has been an increase in thefts from cars-  all over North County including RSF.  Lock your car!  Don't leave valuables inside!

Helicopter

The Helicopter you have heard and seen flying and hovering is doing line surveys for SDG&E.  They were here last week and this week.  We do not know how much more work they need to do.  If you have any concerns, you can contact SDG&E at 800-411-7343

Preventing Car Burglaries

Here are some tips to reduce your chances of becoming a victim.  Criminals will break into a car to get change out of the ashtray-

prevent.
