Road Closures- February 8, 2015

The San Dieguito Half Marathon will be held Sunday February 8, 2015.  It starts from San Dieguito Park, runs through the ranch and finishes at the Park. Several of the legs of the race are repeat out and back.  There is a three hour time limit for participants, so we expect outlying roads may open as runners have cleared and it is safe to open the road.
Refer to the map below.  Please plan your trips that morning. Look for an alternate route.   The race should be over by 11:30 or so. If you leave your home and you live within the race route, you may not be able to get back to it until the last runners clear the road.

Below is the letter that we mailed to residents, and the map of the route and closures.

Dear Rancho Santa Fe Resident,

The 47th Annual San Dieguito Half-Marathon and 5k Walk will be taking place from 7:00 am to 11:30 am on Sunday, February 8th, 2015.

To ensure the safety of all participants and local residents, the route, detour and roads that will be closed is shown on the map below. Roads will be reopened by the CHP as each segment of the course is clear to be opened. EMERGENCY SERVICE VEHICLES will have access to all of the closed roads to respond to service requests.
The CHP and San Diego County Sheriff will be providing traffic control. The marathon will start and finish at San Dieguito County Park on El Camino Real.
This event is sponsored by The San Diego County Parks Society which provides support to the San Dieguito County Park.

Road Closure

Las Colinas between Via De La Valle and El Zorro Vista is closed due to a vehicle hitting a telephone pole earlier today.  The collision caused the pole to snap and the large telephone lines are across the road, making travel through that area near the Village Church impossible.  The estimated time for opening he section of the road is about 9pm tonight.  Please drive carefully and watch for workers on the road.

Business Alert!

In the North County region there have been burglaries that target businesses.  The crime occur at night, and usually the loss is computer equipment.  To help deter these crimes and assist in loss recovery, these steps you can take are highly encouraged:

1.  Use the alarm system when leaving for the night

2.  Make sure you have descriptions and serial numbers for all your computer/electronic equipment.

3.  Don't "display" your large monitors/computers  near windows that can be seen from the street or sidewalk.

4.  Use anti theft cables and locks on computers and devices.

5.  Consider using anti-smash film on your windows.

6.  Video surveillance is very helpful, but make sure it is of high quality- specially at night. A grainy, low res image does not help identify suspects.

7.  If you see anyone coming into your business that seems to be casing the place, call us or the Sheriff right away.

Also-  Car Burglaries

Lock your car!!!   Do not leave anything valuable in your car.  Crooks will break a window to steal a 20 dollar pair of sunglasses.  Don't hide anything under floor mats or the seats. The coastal areas are prime target for car burglaries and crime.  We see this migrating out here in RSF.
